Effective date: [01/01/2026]

Last updated: [29/10/2026]

1. Introduction and Scope

banMe Media (banMe Media LLC, together with its affiliates, "banMe," "we," "us," or "our") is a research-first media strategy and activation company headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information.

This policy applies to:

  • Our website at www.banmemedia.com and any other website, page, or digital property that links to this policy (the "Website").

  • Our business relationships, including when you request information, submit an RFP, attend our events, subscribe to our newsletter, or work with us as a client, partner, or vendor.

  • Our advertising services, including media planning and activation, Audience IQ™ insights, and Curate.Resonate™ curated deals, which we provide to brands and agencies (collectively, the "Services").

This policy also does not cover the privacy practices of our clients, publishers, or advertising platforms, which have their own policies.

By using the Website or Services, you acknowledge that you have read this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the Website or Services.

2. Information We Collect

The information we collect depends on how you interact with us. In the past 12 months we have collected the categories below.

  • Identifiers and contact details: Name, company, job title, business email, phone number, mailing address. Source: You, via forms, email, RFP submissions, events.

  • Business and commercial information: Services you inquire about, contracts, insertion orders, billing details. Source: You and your organization.

  • Communications: Messages, call notes, meeting recordings (with notice), survey responses. Source: You.

  • Website usage and device data: IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, pages viewed, links clicked, referring URL, time on site, cookie IDs. Source: Automatically, through cookies and similar technologies.

  • Advertising and online identifiers: Cookie IDs, mobile advertising IDs (MAIDs), CTV device IDs, hashed emails, ad impression, click, and conversion data. Source: Our Services, clients, DSPs, publishers, and data partners.

  • Approximate location: Location inferred from IP address, or general area provided by ad partners. Source: Automatically and from partners.

  • Inferences: Interest segments, audience personas, and engagement scores derived from the data above. Source: Created by us, including through Audience IQ™.

  • Social media information: Public profile details and interactions with our LinkedIn and Instagram pages. Source: Social media platforms.

Information in our advertising Services. When we run or optimize campaigns, we typically process pseudonymous identifiers (such as cookie or device IDs) rather than names or direct contact details. We use this data to analyze which audiences engage with ads and to build aggregated personas and segments. We do not use it to identify you by name.

Sensitive personal information. We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information, such as precise geolocation, health information, financial account numbers, government IDs, or information revealing race, religion, or sexual orientation. We do not build advertising segments based on sensitive categories.

Information we do not treat as personal information. This includes de-identified or aggregated data that cannot reasonably be linked to you, and publicly available information.

3. How We Collect Information

  • Directly from you. When you fill out a contact or RFP form, email or call us, subscribe to updates, attend an event or webinar, or sign a contract with us.

  • Automatically. Our Website uses cookies, pixels, tags, local storage, and similar technologies to record how you use the site. Our website platform provider (Squarespace) and analytics providers such as Google Analytics may also collect this data on our behalf.

  • Through our advertising Services. Pixels, tags, and log files from demand-side platforms (DSPs), supply-side platforms, publishers, and measurement partners give us data about ad impressions, clicks, and conversions.

  • From clients. Brands and agencies may provide us campaign data or first-party audience data (usually hashed or pseudonymized) under their own privacy notices and our contracts with them.

  • From third parties. Data providers, lead sources, social media platforms, and industry partners may provide business contact details or audience data, subject to their own legal obligations.

4. How We Use Information

We use personal information to:

  • Respond to inquiries and RFPs, and provide the Services our clients request.

  • Plan, activate, optimize, and report on advertising campaigns across display, video, CTV, audio, native, digital out-of-home, social, and search.

  • Build audience insights, personas, and segments through Audience IQ™, and score inventory for Curate.Resonate™ deals.

  • Measure ad performance, frequency, attribution, and return on spend.

  • Detect and prevent ad fraud, invalid traffic, and security incidents.

  • Operate, debug, and improve our Website and Services.

  • Send newsletters, research, and marketing communications, where permitted by law.

  • Manage contracts, invoicing, and our business relationships.

  • Comply with law, enforce our agreements, and protect our rights and the rights of others.

  • Carry out any other purpose disclosed to you when we collect the information, or with your consent.

We may combine information from different sources for these purposes. We may also create de-identified or aggregated data and use it for any lawful purpose.

5. Cookies, Tracking Technologies, and Interest-Based Advertising

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. Pixels (web beacons) are small pieces of code that report when a page, email, or ad is viewed. We and our partners use these and similar technologies, including mobile SDKs and device identifiers, for  the campaigns we run.

  • Strictly necessary: Run the Website, remember privacy choices, keep forms secure. Opt-out: No, but your browser can block them (parts of the site may break).

  • Analytics and performance: Count visits, see which pages and content are used most. Opt-out: Yes, through cookie settings or browser controls.

  • Functional: Remember preferences such as region or language. Opt-out: Yes.

  • Advertising and targeting: Show relevant ads on other sites and apps, retarget, measure campaigns. Opt-out: Yes, through the options in Section 7.

Interest-based advertising. In delivering the Services, we and our partners may collect information about browsing and app activity over time and across different websites, apps, and devices (including connected TVs). This lets us show ads more likely to be relevant to you and measure their effectiveness. This activity may be considered "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising, under some U.S. state laws.

Industry programs. Many of the ad technology companies we work with take part in the self-regulatory programs of the Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA) and the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI). Their opt-out tools are listed in Section 7.

Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand Website usage. You can learn how Google uses this data at google.com/policies/privacy/partners and opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

6. How We Share Information

We share personal information only as described below. We require service providers to use it solely to perform services for us and to protect it.

  • Service providers: Website hosting (e.g., Squarespace), cloud storage, CRM, email, analytics, IT and security support.

  • Advertising technology partners: DSPs, SSPs, exchanges, publishers, data and measurement providers that help us deliver, target, and measure campaigns.

  • Clients: Campaign reports and audience insights, generally in aggregated or pseudonymized form.

  • Social media and search platforms: Running paid campaigns on platforms such as Meta, LinkedIn, Reddit, TikTok, Google, and Microsoft.

  • Professional advisers: Lawyers, accountants, auditors, and insurers.

  • Affiliates: Companies under common ownership or control with banMe.

  • Legal and safety recipients: Courts, regulators, or law enforcement when required by law, or to protect rights, safety, and property.

  • Business transferees: A buyer, investor, or successor in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.

  • Others with your consent: Any party you direct us to share with.

Sales and sharing. We do not sell personal information.

7. Your Choices and Opt-Outs

  • Marketing emails. Click "unsubscribe" in any marketing email or contact us. We may still send transactional or account-related messages.

  • Interest-based ads on websites. Use the DAA opt-out at optout.aboutads.info or the NAI opt-out at optout.networkadvertising.org.

  • Interest-based ads in mobile apps. Use the DAA AppChoices app (youradchoices.com/appchoices), or your device settings: "Limit Ad Tracking" or app tracking controls on iOS, and "Delete advertising ID" on Android.

  • Connected TV. Use the ad or privacy settings on your smart TV or streaming device to reset or limit its advertising identifier.

  • Global Privacy Control (GPC). We treat a GPC signal from your browser as a request to opt out of sales and sharing for that browser.

Opt-outs are generally tied to a specific browser or device. If you clear cookies, change devices, or use a different browser, you may need to opt out again. Opting out does not stop all ads; you may still see ads that are not based on your interests.

8. U.S. State Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, Oregon, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws, you may have the right to:

  • Know and access the categories and specific pieces of personal information we hold about you, its sources, our purposes, and the categories of recipients.

  • Correct inaccurate personal information.

  • Delete personal information, subject to legal exceptions.

  • Obtain a portable copy of your personal information.

  • Opt out of the sale of personal information, sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising, and targeted advertising.

  • Limit the use of sensitive personal information (we do not use sensitive personal information for purposes that trigger this right).

  • Appeal our decision on your request, where state law provides that right.

  • Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.

How to submit a request. Email [privacy@banmemedia.com], with the subject "Privacy Request." To opt out of sales and sharing.

Verification. For access, correction, and deletion requests, we will ask for enough information to confirm your identity and match you to our records, such as your name and email address. Opt-out requests do not require verification, but we may decline requests we reasonably believe are fraudulent.

Authorized agents. You may use an authorized agent. We may require signed written permission or a power of attorney, and may ask you to verify your identity directly.

Response timing. We aim to respond within 45 days, and may extend that period as permitted by law. If we deny a request, we will explain why and, where applicable, how to appeal.

Pseudonymous advertising data. Much of the data in our Services is tied to cookie or device IDs, not names. To act on a request for that data, we may need the identifier itself, or we may apply your request through an opt-out cookie or device-level setting.

Nevada residents. You may ask us not to sell covered information by emailing us with the subject "Nevada Do Not Sell Request."

9. International Visitors (EEA, UK, and Switzerland)

banMe is based in the United States and primarily serves U.S. clients and audiences. If you access our Website from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S., where privacy laws may differ from those in your country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

If the EU or UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies, we process personal information on these legal bases:

  • Contract: to provide Services you or your organization requested.

  • Legitimate interests: to run and improve our business, market to business contacts, and secure our Website, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.

  • Consent: for non-essential cookies and certain marketing, which you can withdraw at any time.

  • Legal obligation: to comply with applicable law.

You may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your personal information, to data portability, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Contact us using the details in Section 12 to exercise these rights.

10. Data Retention, Security, and Children

Retention. We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes in this policy. We consider why we collected it, our contracts with clients, legal and tax record-keeping rules, and limitation periods for claims. Campaign log data is generally kept for the duration of the campaign, then it's deleted.

Security. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, including access controls, encryption in transit, and vendor security reviews. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please avoid sending sensitive information by email.

Children. Our Website and Services are intended for businesses and are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16, and we do not knowingly target advertising to children under 16 or build segments based on their data. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Third-party sites. Our Website may link to other websites and social media pages. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, so please review their policies.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as our Services or the law change. We will post the updated version on this page with a new "Last updated" date. If we make material changes, we will give more prominent notice, such as a Website banner or email.
